Diana Krall
Diana Krall
Diana Krall has experience in her favor. Born in Nanaimo, Canada, to a musical family -- her father is a stride-style pianist and serious record collector -- she grew up absorbing music that guided her future growth. She attended Berklee School of Music in the early1980's, then moved to Los Angeles where she continued her studies with bassists Ray Brown and John Clayton, drummer Jeff Hamilton and pianist Jimmy Rowles; Rowles convinced the young pianist to focus on her singing as well. By 1990, Krall relocated to New York City and began performing with a trio, and in 1993, she released her debut album on a small Canadian independent label.

Fifteen years later, she can look back over a stellar career path: in 1999, signed to Verve, her career exploded when When I Look in Your Eyes won a GRAMMY for best jazz vocal and became the first jazz disc to be nominated for Album of the Year in twenty-five years. In 2002, The Look of Love was a #1 bestseller in the US and a five-time platinum album in Canada. 2004's The Girl in the Other Room, was her first to focus on her own songwriting (with six tunes co-written with husband Elvis Costello); 2005's Christmas Songs proved one of the season's best-sellers; and 2006's From This Moment On was an upbeat, critical success. Quiet Nights - Diana Krall's twelfth and current album - draws heavily from the Brazilian influence of the bossa nova.

Kenny Loggins
Kenny Loggins
Kenny Loggins has been many things to many people over the past three decades -- "a moving target" as he's put it. In his time, Loggins has been a guitarslinger with a psychedelic rock band, a hot young songwriter with a publishing deal, half of a legendary country-rock duo, a massively successful and accomplished solo artist, a sonic pioneer in the smooth jazz genre, a reigning soundtrack superstar, a rocker, a seeker, as well as an enduring recording artist and live performer whose most recent works have spoken deeply to both young audiences and decidedly adult and worldly concerns. At the heart of it all, there remains a brilliant singer-songwriter and guitarist with a lifelong passion for exploring the endless power of the song to communicate.

By any standard, Loggins' commercial impact has been extraordinary; twelve of his albums have gone platinum and beyond. In a world of one hit wonders and fifteen minute sensations, Loggins has enjoyed hit songs in four straight decades -- a remarkable testament to his exceptional craftsmanship and stamina.

Mike Birbiglia
Mike Birbiglia
"My Girlfriend's Boyfriend"
In "Mike Birbiglia's My Girlfriend's Boyfriend,"Mike shares a lifetime of romantic blunders and miscues that most adults would spend a lifetime trying to forget. On this painfully honest journey, Birbiglia struggles to find reason in an area where it may be impossible to find -- love. Winner of the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Solo Show, "My Girlfriend's Boyfriend" was nominated for both the Drama Desk and the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Solo Performance. The New York Times called the show "ridiculously enjoyable" and it was recognized as a Critic's Pick by The New York Times, Time Out New York, and New York Magazine.

After receiving critical acclaim in Canada and Australia, and completing a 15-week run in New York City, Mike Birbiglia performed his hit show throughout the United States in 2011, and continues to tour in 2012.

Aaron Neville
Christmas with Aaron Neville
Over the past five decades, the indelible spirit of New Orleans has been synonymous with the musical dynasty known as the Neville Brothers. For Aaron Neville the solo artist, there is an equally intimate connection between his music and the faith that has sustained him for his entire life. Through challenge and tragedy, he's managed to thrive, protecting both his heart and his voice. Ask him how and he says simply this: "He who sings once, prays twice."

Insightful, honest and heart-wrenching, Aaron Neville's angelic voice is woven into the fabric of our lives. His 1966 debut single "Tell it like it is" made him an overnight success and household name, and his body of work over the past five decades has earned him numerous Grammy nominations and Grammy awards. Known for gentle, heartfelt vocals, he generates a magic that few, if any, singers can match.

The Temptations
The Temptations
For more than forty years, The Temptations have prospered, propelling popular music with a series of smash hits, and sold-out performances throughout the world. The history of The Temptations is the history of contemporary American pop. An essential component of the original Motown machine, that amazing engine invented by Berry Gordy, The Temps began their musical life in Detroit in the early sixties. It wasn't until 1964 however, that the Smokey Robinson written-and-produced "The Way You Do The Things You Do" turned the guys into stars. An avalanche of hits followed, many of which..."My Girl," for instance...attained immortality. "It's Growing," "Since I Lost My Baby," "Get Ready," "Ain't Too Proud to Beg," "Beauty Is Only Skin Deep," "I Wish It Would Rain"...the hits kept coming.

The classic lineup was Otis Williams, Melvin Franklin, Paul Williams, Eddie Kendricks and David Ruffin. Beyond the fabulous singing, The Temps became known for smooth stepping and flawless presentations. Other stellar singers...Richard Street, Ali-Ollie Woodson...joined, adding their luster to the groups' growing fame. No matter the change in personnel, The Temptations remained true to The Temptations tradition. They survived the whims of fashion, whether disco or techno, and stuck to their guns. The current lineup consists of: Otis Williams, Ron Tyson, Terry Weeks, Joe Herndon, Bruce Williamson.

Los Lobos
Los Lobos
More than three decades have passed since Los Lobos released their debut album, Just Another Band from East L.A. Since then they've repeatedly disproven that title - Los Lobos isn't "just another" anything, but rather a band that has consistently evolved artistically while never losing sight of their humble roots. It was during their earliest years that the particular hybrid of traditional regional Mexican folk music, rock & roll, blues, R&B, country and other genres began finding a sweet spot in the music of Los Lobos. Now, after many years, numerous albums, and multiple Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year for their cover of "La Bamba," Los Lobos have successfully imprinted their musical signature in the annals of rock & roll history.
